Description
If you are interested in growing corn, choose Silver Queen seed for a tender and flavorful late-season variety. The one that started the white sweet corn excitement, Silver Queen sweet corn is still popular for its creamy, quality kernels. Silver Queen corn seed can bloom into 8-foot-tall stalks with a bounty of 8- to 9-inch-long ears. Beautiful ears with tight, dark green husks and ample flags are produced high on its tall plant. The plant has some drought tolerance and greater insect resistance than other sweet corn varieties. Wait for warm soil before planting, preferably in spring. Silver Queen corn prefers direct sunlight and grows throughout warmer months. Succession planting is recommended, one in spring and the other in summer. As one of the sweetest corns, this variety is great for eating when fresh. The widely adaptable Silver Queen corn will take 94 days to mature.
